Soldier Ride

Heath Calhoun, and Ryan Kelly are retired disabled vets. Chris Carney is not a vet, but believes it is his duty, to help raise funds and awareness to the plight of our vets in need.

Join them for their epic 4200 mile, cross country journey on Soldier Ride 2005. The ride begins at the Marina Del Ray "Mother's Beach" in Los Angeles, CA on May 21, 2005 and ends in Montauk, New York on July 18, 2005. These courageous men will lead the Soldier Ride National Tour Team across the heartland of America. Along the way they will be joined by fellow wounded warriors who will help them relay Soldier Ride's message of hope, courage and determination across America.

Larry Majeski in Branson at Operation Homecoming

Here is a shot of our Fearless Leader Larry, and a good friend of his from Australia. It was taken on Saturday the 18th at the concert in Branson, Mo.

The other gentleman is called "Knobby". He served on the "Sydney" a converted flattop that served between Vung Tau and Australia, ferrying troops and supplies, during the war.

Operation Homecoming

Larry Majeski and I just returned from "Operation Homecoming" that was held in Branson Mo. It was a week of being among thousands of our Brothers from Vietnam, with many events. Included were a golf tourament, and a fishing tourament. There were Opening and Closing ceremonies, the Wall Memorial, a Parade, and a Grand Finale Concert. Many musical groups from the 60's and 70's, including CCR, Doobie Brothers, Four Tops, Fifth Dimension, Oak Ridge Boys, and many more. Also there were live satellite uplinks, including greetings from President Bush, Soliders in Iraq, and Clint Black to name a few. The concert took place on a scenic hilltop surrounded by the Ozarks, on a flawless day of sun and warm weather.

I will post some photos of this event in the future...

Please keep Bill McKinley, 212th, 65-66, in your thoughts and prayers. He is completing chemotherapy for colon cancer and is hoping to come to the reunion.

Also keep David Ford, 212th, 68-69, and all the members of our Armed forces in your thoughts and prayers. Pray for everyone’s safe return.

It’s summer road construction time in Kansas City. For those of you who come into Kansas City from the North on I-35, the Paseo Bridge across the Missouri River is closed. The detour is well-marked so keep an eye out for the signs.

I received a note from, Ernie Ayala that he had announced the reunion in “The Dogman” and his local newspaper. If anyone else could put a notice in their local papers, it would be appreciated. We might be able to make some new contacts. I will try to get it announced on our local cable channels.

I was contacted by Wanda Pitts. Her father, TSGT Kenneth E. Pitts, trained sentry dog handlers at Lackland AFB, Texas in the early 60’s. She would like to hear from anyone who remembers her father. Please write her at: Wanda L. Pitts; 718 South Glenwood Avenue; Russellville, AR 72801-6022.

The T-Bones, our local minor league team, will be playing the St. Paul Saints on Friday night, 12 August. A great time for very little money. Something to do after shopping at Cabala’s and Nebraska Furniture Mart.

While Kansas City is a nice place, how about visiting another part of the country for our next reunion. Larry Majeski and I would be glad to give you information if you would be interested in taking it on.

The big hunks of meat are waiting, so get those registrations in. See you in August.
