A War Dog Memorial

Photos were taken at Veterans Memorial Park, on February 24, 2002 in the Village of Streamwood, Illinois.

This memorial to war dogs was dedicated on May 27th, 2001, with members from 40 K-9 units from many adjoining states in attendence. Also a special K-9 KIA memorial by members of VietNow, and memorial wreaths were laid by members of US Army Airborne. Guest speakers included, speeches by Congressman Henry Hyde and Vietnam Dog Handler Association President John Burnham, and Steve Lyons of the Streamwood Police Dept.

In the Vietnam war, over 4,000 dogs were used, and credited with saving at least 10,000 lives...
