Obituary of William Ziemer
William E. "Bill" Ziemer William E. "Bill" Ziemer, age 69, of Erie, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at his residence at the Erie Pennsylvania Soldiers’ & Sailors’ Home. He was born in Erie, PA on March 3, 1943, the son of the late William O. and Isabel Betz Ziemer. After graduating from Academy High School in 1961, Bill served honorably in the U.S. Army as a Military Police dog handler in Vietnam. After proudly serving his country, he returned home to work in and manage his family’s business, the Home Beer Company, on Buffalo Rd. More recently, he was employed as the express delivery driver for Dunn Tire. Bill was an exceptional athlete and avid sports fan; enjoying NASCAR racing, and especially his beloved Cleveland Indians and Browns. He was a member of the Polish Falcons Club Nest 123 and Nest 610, the South Erie Turners, a life member of the Siebenbuerger Club Singing Society, a life member of the Sunflower Club, and a member of the former East Erie Turners Club. Bill is survived by his sister, Barbara Voytko (Jack); nephews, Richard Ward and Rusty Ward (Christine); several cousins; dear friends: Joe and Dorothy Kupniewski, Cliff and Joyce Cochran, and Emil Cehovin. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. and are invited there on Saturday for the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment with military honors at Calvary Cemetery.
