11/04/2012: "Military Working Dog National Monument"
November 2, 2012 Military Working Dog Teams National Monument
The public will get a sneak peak of the monument at the Tournament of Roses parade in Pasadena on Jan. 1, when a floral replica will be used as Natural Balance’s float. John Burnam, dogs and handlers from every military service branch will ride on it.
When the float goes on display afterward at Victory Park, the real bronze monument will make its public debut next to it. Then the bronze monument will go on tour as it heads to Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. The location was chosen as the site for the monument because that’s where most of the nation’s military’s dogs are trained.
There is a great article on the Military Working Dog Teams National Monument in the Washington post this morning at the following link:

Tomorrow, I will be attending the retirement ceremony for Military Working Dog Rex at Luke AFB. My thanks to the Luke canine handlers for inviting me to this event.
The Phoenix Veterans Day Parade is Monday, November 12. The Salute to the Military Working Dog entry is #23 of 109 entries. It may be live-streamed over the internet. If interested in viewing let me know and when I find out I will send you the site.
