This from Gary Freedman 212th 67-68

Alan D. Coffin, 75, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away November 19, 2013, of complications from surgery. He served with the 981st at Fort Carson, CO., as they prepared to deploy to Viet Nam, and was then assigned to the 212th as his platoon was re-directed and deployed to the 212th in December,1967. He served as NCOIC of the Sentry Dog Detachment at Vinh Long. He retired in 1979. Alan was laid to rest at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery,1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV. At his request, there were no services.
